PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTS
I love making prints and I believe that the print is the ultimate physical expression of the photographic image. The original context for my photographs has principally been publication rather than exhibition, never-the-less they can be found in museums and galleries worldwide and are held in public and private collections in Europe, the United States and Asia. I sell prints in collections of images that have a connection with each other or individually and they are for sale by contacting me at [email protected]. I no longer sell through galleries or agents. All prints made in my darkroom or studio are hand crafted by me, they are not made by assistants or interns. Limited Edition vintage, modern and contemporary archival prints are all available. Most of the photographs on this website and in my archive at VII Photo Agency are available.
My darkroom
VINTAGE, MODERN, AND CONTEMPORARY PRINTS. SIGNED, ARCHIVAL
I sell three kinds of prints. I have been printing my own work for nearly thirty years. Over that time, I have made small editions of vintage prints, which I define as prints that were made within a year of the original photograph being made. In subsequent years, I have reinterpreted work and made new prints; some of these modern prints are now over twenty years old. I also make contemporary prints of all the negative- and digital-based work.
BLACK & WHITE PRINTS. SIGNED, ARCHIVAL. EDITIONS OF 6 & 12
With very rare exceptions, all my black-&-white photography is made on film. Archival black-&-white silver prints up to 20" x 24" are made in my darkroom, which is equipped with a 10” x 8” Durst Laborator and a Leitz Focomat V. Larger format black-&-white prints are made on a Canon iPF9100 printer using Canon 300 gsm polished cotton rag archival paper and Canon archival Lucia ink in my studio. On special request, large format black-&-white silver or platinum prints can be made by Eric Luden at Digital Silver Imaging in Belmont, Massachusetts.
COLOR PRINTS. Signed, Archival. Editions of 6 & 12
Most of my color photography between 1988 and 2003 was made on color transparency film; occasionally, I would use color negative film. Most of the contemporary color photography is made using Canon digital cameras. Color prints are handcrafted by me on a Canon iPF9100 printer using Canon 300 gsm polished cotton rag archival paper and Canon archival Lucia ink in my studio.

Review
"The relationship between (Jeff) Wall’s large works and the scale and ambition of history paintings has often been remarked on. But Gary Knight’s picture from Dyala Bridge, Iraq, 2003 (slide #11) achieves an even more remarkable relationship with the art of the past. A photograph taken in the immediate aftermath of fighting, it combines the documentary immediacy and evidential power of the best photojournalism with the epic grandeur of history painting." Geoff Dyer. Los Angeles Times. October, 2012.
